The Twilight Saga: New Moon Soundtrack is Number 10 on Film.com’s Best Soundtracks of the Year:

10. The Twilight Saga: New Moon
New Moon makes this list almost purely because of the inclusion of new material from the likes of Grizzly Bear (”Slow Life”), Thom Yorke (”Hearing Damage”), and pairing Bon Iver with St. Vincent (”Roslyn”). Whether it’s the best music for Taylor Lautner to remove his shirt to is probably up for debate.

Muse and Their New Moon Soundtrack Contribution

Muse talked to MTV about their conversation with Chris Weitz and what song they think they will be contributing to the New Moon soundtrack. You can listen to it above, and yes there is some french in it.

“Speaking to Zane Lowe the group revealed that they’ve recently spoken to the film’s director Chris Weitz about recording a new version of a song from their album The Resistance.

Singer Matt Bellamy revealed: “I spoke to the director yesterday (and) he wants the track I Belong To You, the sort of vaudeville piano track.

“He wants a rendition of that but the only thing with the new film is they want the songs to be exclusive to the film. So he’s asking if I mind doing, or if we mind doing an alternative version of it.”

Asked if they were up for it Matt said: “I think it’s alright- if it was one of the main tracks on the album I would never do it. But it’s actually one of the weirder tracks on the album.

“(It’s) one of the can’t believe we got away with it kind of tracks. I think it might be worth giving it a go cos it’s a track that might not get played live very often… one of the obscure tracks off the album so it might give that track some life that it wouldn’t have otherwise.”

StephenieMeyer.com has just posted about some New Moon soundtrack news!

I just received the following announcement from Atlantic Records (the record label that produced the Twilight Soundtrack):
“The first single has officially been confirmed for the New Moon Soundtrack! Death Cab for Cutie has written an exclusive song for the movie entitled ‘Meet Me On the Equinox.’ Below is a statement from the band about the song:

“We are very excited to be a part of this amazing series of novels set in our own backyard. It just seemed a perfect synergy that a band from the Northwest would create a song for a series of novels set in the Northwest. We wrote ‘Meet Me On the Equinox’ to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the Twilight series and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters. This song marks the first attempt that Death Cab for Cutie has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film and we are proud to be a part of the Twilight legacy.” — Nick Harmer / Death Cab for Cutie

Additionally, we have the exclusive premiere of the soundtrack album cover below! The soundtrack will be in stores on October 20th, 2009, stay tuned for more information!”

Jackson Rathbone Makin’ Music Moves

On Twilight’s first soundtrack, Robert Pattinson  featured his song Let Me Sign, which was played during the fight scene between Edward and James. Many of the actors and actresses within the Twilight series are VERY musically inclined. Now Jackson Rathbone, AKA Jasper, may showcase one of his singles with his band 100 Monkeys on the New Moon soundtrack. Although many know that Muse and possibly Kings of Leon will be featured on the New Moon Soundtrack, I can’t help but wonder what other Twilight cast members may contribute their singing talents.
